BMTI Sponsors Regional BioGENEius Competition at CSLSC
The Southeast Regional semi-finals of the BioGENEius Challenge were held at the Cool Springs Life Sciences Center on Saturday, March 4, 2006. Top students from across the Southeast represented their states in this project presentation. BioMimetic Therapeutics and Williamson Works partnered with Vanderbilt University and the Tennessee Biotechnology Association to bring this year's Southeast Regional competition to middle Tennessee.
State Senator Jim Bryson (bottom left photo, center) served as M.C. for the Award Ceremonies.
BioMimetic Therapeutics' Dr. Leslie Lynch (bottom right photo, on right) served as a judge for the Regional Semifinals.
The BioGENEius Challenge is an annual competition for high school students who demonstrate a superior understanding of biotechnology through science research projects. Winning teams from regional competitions in the U.S. and Canada are invited to the annual BIO convention where a panel of industry and community leaders judges their projects and awards cash prizes totaling more than $15,000. Student displays will be on hand and the students will be recognized during the Monday plenary luncheon. The international competition is generously supported by international sponsor sanofi-aventis, national sponsor Sangamo BioSciences, Inc., and in-kind support is provided by BIO. |
